Ridgestone is pleased to present to you The Lookout, a bright and spacious one-bedroom hideaway perfectly positioned between Cartmel and Grange-over-Sands, offering complete privacy and far-reaching countryside views. Newly built in 2025 and furnished to a very high standard, this luxurious retreat is ideal for two guests seeking comfort, calm and a beautifully designed base for exploring the southern Lakes. Large windows throughout fill the property with natural light, with the main living area overlooking the garden and the vaulted bedroom window framing a stunning view across open fields to Morecambe Bay.

Inside, the open-plan living space features a well-appointed kitchen with an induction hob, oven, microwave, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, Nespresso coffee machine, kettle and toaster. The sitting area is warm and welcoming, centred around a contemporary log burner and a wall-mounted LG TV, with a separate dining area for relaxed meals at home. The king-size bed offers a peaceful place to unwind, complete with a vaulted south-facing window and window seat, while the en-suite shower room is accessed directly from the bedroom and includes fresh towels and bed linens for your stay.

Outside, a private patio captures the evening sun and leads into a large garden with fruit trees, two ponds, a small stream and a number of quiet seating areas. It is a lovely space to relax, read or simply enjoy the surrounding peace!

The Lookout offers driveway parking for up to two vehicles. Please note that pets are not permitted, and the home is not suitable for children or infants.

Thoughtfully designed and beautifully presented, The Lookout offers a wonderfully peaceful escape with Cartmel’s celebrated restaurants, walks and village charm just a mile away in one direction and the coastal town of Grange-over-Sands a mile in the other. It is the perfect bolthole for two people to enjoy the southern Lakes in peace and comfort.

The Lookout is well placed for exploring both Cartmel and Grange-over-Sands. Local taxi services operate in the area and we recommend booking in advance, particularly during busy periods or race days in Cartmel.

The nearest train stations are Grange-over-Sands and Cark-in-Cartmel, each around a 5 minute drive from the property. Both stations offer regular services along the Furness Line, providing easy connections to Lancaster, Barrow and the wider rail network.

The Lookout is a fully self-contained in-law suite apartment offering complete privacy throughout your stay. Set within a peaceful rural hamlet, we respectfully ask guests to keep noise to a considerate level at all times.

You are welcome to enjoy the garden, which features ponds, a small stream and several quiet seating areas. These natural areas are unfenced and shared with the main house, so please take care when exploring.

Parking is provided on the driveway for up to two vehicles. Smoking or vaping is not permitted inside the property, as The Lookout is a strictly non-smoking home.

The Lookout is an adult-only retreat and is not suitable for children or infants. Only guests included in the booking may stay overnight. Pets are not permitted, so we kindly ask that you leave your four-legged companions at home for this stay.

If you would like a little extra time on departure day, late check-out may be available for an additional charge. Please get in touch with our team in advance, and we will be happy to help where possible.

The Lookout sits in a peaceful spot between the villages of Cartmel and Grange-over-Sands, offering easy access to two of the most charming destinations in the South Lakes.

Cartmel is widely regarded as one of the prettiest villages in the Lake District, with cobbled streets, historic buildings, a medieval priory and a picture-perfect stream running through the centre. Its thriving food scene includes independent shops, cosy pubs and several venues from Michelin-starred chef Simon Rogan. The village often hosts live music and weekend food events, and the famous Cartmel Racecourse brings lively atmosphere on its race days.

To the south, Grange-over-Sands offers a completely different but equally lovely experience, with its Edwardian promenade, ornamental gardens, coastal views across Morecambe Bay and a selection of cafés, bakeries and small shops to explore.

The wider South Lakes area is rich with attractions. Within a short drive you will find Levens Hall, Sizergh Castle, Holker Hall and their spectacular gardens, as well as local favourites such as the Lakeland Motor Museum and the Campbell Bluebird Exhibition. Lake Windermere is easily reached for boat trips, waterside walks and outdoor adventures.
