The Heron is a cosy shepherd’s hut hideaway located in the beautiful Lyth Valley, a great escape for those looking for a privet getaway for two. Seating with a firepit is situated on the hut’s doorstep, to allow guests to make the most of the beautiful natural views of the valley. 

The Space

The Heron is a cosy shepherd’s hut hideaway located in the beautiful Lyth Valley. This private retreat is perfect for a romantic getaway for two. Situated on the doorstep of the hut, you’ll find comfortable seating and a firepit, allowing you to fully enjoy the stunning natural views of the valley.  

Inside The Heron, you’ll discover a double bed against the far wall, a small kitchenette counter with a sink, and a cosy electric burner to keep the hut warm and inviting. Logs for the outdoor firepit are not provided, but logs and kindling can be obtained for an extra charge upon request at check-in, or from any of the nearest local petrol stations.   

Just a few steps behind the hut, you’ll find private compost toilet and shower cubicle facilities. As a guest at The Heron, you’ll have exclusive access to the hut and the designated toilet and shower facilities. These amenities are for the use of The Heron guests only and are not shared with others.

Parking is available in the designated Lyth Valley Country House parking area.

The Heron is located just next to the Lyth Valley Country House, perfectly located a short drive away from both Kendal and Bowness-on-Windermere. As the name suggests, this means that the Hut is located in the Lyth Valley in the heart of the Lake District! 

About The Valley:

With fertile soils and a favourable climate, the valley has long been a hub for farming, particularly sheep rearing and fruit cultivation, including the renowned damsons.

Pets are welcome, however, the area surrounding the hut is not secure – please let us know prior to arrival if you are travelling with your furry friends! 

A Deposit of £100.00 is to be charged on the date of arrival and returned post check out.
