    Colour House is one of Kendal’s most prominent Airbnb’s with hundreds of past 5-star reviews, and hundreds of nights hosted. It is now managed by the team at Skies Holidays, this has been and continues to be to be one of the most sought-after Airbnb’s in the local area.

    The cosy open-plan apartment suite can be found on the top floor of the beautiful Grade II listed building, the Colour House. Tucked away in the quiet and historic cobbled street, the ‘old shambles’ overlooking a historic cobbled yard. With views from, the suite’s large period windows look out over the rooftops of the historic market town of Kendal.

  • The Space

    The suite has two double bedrooms plus a huge adjoining living room (with basic kitchenette and double sofa bed) and a modern bathroom, all for your exclusive use during your stay. All rooms have double height ceilings with exposed beams, great views across Kendal’s rooftops to the hills beyond and plenty of character. Although the suite is part of the greater Colour House, it is private and self-contained with its own access, so you can come and go as you please.

    The suite can comfortably accommodate 4 people with 2 double bedrooms, large private living room (28ft x 21ft – 8.5m x 6.5m) with basic kitchenette, double sofa bed and a modern private bathroom. One bedroom has a double bed and a large Samsung flat screen TV, the other bedroom has a king-size bed, 3-seat sofa and digital radio. You’ll find a large selection of DVDs under the coffee table and an array of local interest books, leaflets and maps which you are welcome to use during your stay.

    Towels, bed linen, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, universal travel adaptor and hot water bottles are provided. The bathroom has a large freestanding bath with hand held shower, twin sinks, underfloor heating and glass towel warmer.

    The living room has 2 large lounging sofas and a third that opens to a comfortable double bed. There is a 48″ Smart HD TV, DVD player, games console and Netflix. The kitchenette has a large Smeg fridge, kettle, Nespresso coffee machine and Aeroccino milk frother, toaster, crockery, mugs, glasses and cutlery.

  • Getting Around

    Oxenholme (Oxenholme Lake District) is the nearest train station, located a short 5-minute drive away.

    The nearest bus stop is a 5-minute walk away at the Town Hall stop with regular stops from the 44, 46, 570 and, 571 routes.

    The Kendal Bus and Coach Station can also be found a 10-minute walk away at the Westmorland Shopping Centre.

    There are a number of reliable local taxi services available within the area.

  • Guest Access

    The main access to the Colour Works is a shared entry. Although the apartment is part of a residence, it is both private and self-contained with its own stairway access, so you can come and go as you please during your stay. Check in on the day of arrival is self-check in, further information is provided at booking confirmation.

    Stay connected with 910Mb WIFI and fibre broadband access offered to guests at Colour House.

    Parking is on street parking, or assigned parking where directed. The small road in to Colour House is private, the largest vehicle size able to park here is approximately up to the side of a VW Camper, anything larger would need to park slightly out on the street.

    We are pet friendly! Please note that we ask that all pets are small, well-behaved pets as the building is home to permanent residents and continuous barking/noise through the evening/occupancy is not only not appreciated but in extreme cases may result in a noise penalty. We respectfully ask that pets are not left unattended, are grateful for responsible pet owners! Thank you for your understanding!

  • Local Area

    Kendal Main Street can be found a short stroll away, there is a great range of things to do including, local shops, pubs, restaurants and cafes just to name a few.

    The nearby Westmorland Shopping Center hosts a wide range of shops and an indoor market – while the Shopping Center is open seven days a week, the indoor market is closed on Sundays.

    The Kendal Farmers Market is one of the oldest farmers markets in the country, hosted in the Market Place on the last Friday of each month. The market is a great stop for local products and excellent locally sourced food.
